    Time Out New York / Issue 623 : Sep 6–12, 2007
    Fall Preview 2007: Music

    Four of clubs

A quartet of new venues is opening this season, each one boasting an impressive lineup. Here are all the vitals.

    By Mike Wolf

    The Glasslands

LOCATION 289 Kent Ave between South 1st and 2nd Sts, Williamsburg, Brooklyn (no phone yet)
    CAPACITY TBD
OPENING Fri 7: Jah Division + Awesome Color
OTHER BIG SHOWS Freshkills + Cobretti + Die Die Die (Sat 8), Christy and Emily + Mia Doi Todd (Tue 11)
DESCRIPTION Growing out of the roots of Brooklyn’s underground scene, this vibrant space will be a community arts center by day, and a laid-back, friendly club by night—look out for late-night dance parties, too.

    Music Hall of Williamsburg

LOCATION 66 North 6th St between Kent and Wythe Aves, Williamsburg, Brooklyn (718-486-5400, musichallofwilliamsburg.com)
    CAPACITY 550
OPENING Opened on Sept 4, with Patti Smith
and Her Band
OTHER BIG SHOWS Vampire Weekend (Sat 8), Clap Your Hands Say Yeah (Mon 10), the Black Lips (Sept 19), Nellie McKay (Sept 25), Thurston Moore with Christina Carter (Sept 26)
DESCRIPTION The former Northsix has undergone a face-lift: Expect a higher ceiling than at the old spot, with a Bowery Ballroom–style balcony and the old columns removed for better sight lines.

    The Prudential Center

LOCATION 165 Mulberry St, Newark, NJ (973-522-4800, prucenter.com)
    CAPACITY 19,500 for concerts
OPENING Oct 25, 26: Bon Jovi + My Chemical Romance
OTHER BIG SHOWS Bon Jovi + Big & Rich (Oct 28, 30); Bon Jovi + Gretchen Wilson (Nov 1, 3); Bon Jovi + Daughtry (Nov 4, 7); Bon Jovi + All-American Rejects (Nov 9, 10)
DESCRIPTION The first new arena in the tristate area in 25 years kicks things off with a heavy dose of Jersey pride: ten Bon Jovi concerts, with five different opening acts. When not rocking, the Prudential Center will host the NHL’s Devils.

    Terminal 5

    LOCATION 610 W 56th St between Eleventh and Twelfth Aves (212-260-4700, terminal5nyc.com)
    CAPACITY 3,000
OPENING Oct 11: the National + St. Vincent
OTHER BIG SHOWS M.I.A. (Oct 19), Justice (Oct 20), The Shins + Vetiver (Oct 23, 24)
DESCRIPTION This cavernous new space—boasting 40,000 square feet—will have two mezzanines above the big floor, with a bar on all three levels.
