It’s not what it used to be, but East 6th is still a must-see—and must-smell. Barkers lure diners inside their jewel-box eateries with begging eyes and the puissant promise of curry and cardamom. Rent hikes have eradicated many of the Village originals, but those who remain stay true to the raga-bacchanalian spirit.
