5 in 1
WHY ESSENTIAL:
Unlike its increasingly homogenous and gentrified home of Williamsburg, this rustic shop/studio/gallery remains fiercely independent as one of the city’s only multipurpose co-op emporiums. Why should you care? Because you can snag pieces from emerging talents, including jewelry designer Meredith Kahn’s quilted cuffs, and chat with the designers themselves in the former railroad-car depot.
The secret:
When designers at 5 in 1 need to get their creative juices flowing, they go for a swing—right in the studio, on a rope hanging in the back room. It’s attached to a huge yellow gantry that was installed by steelworkers 20 years ago. 60 North 6th St at Bedford Ave, Williamsburg, Brooklyn (718-384-1990)

Josh, it is true. X is not on the menu.
I am really upset that Time Out printed my secret website for everybody to see. gugunnameable is so secret, you can't even view it on a regular computer -- the secret password is
www.unnameablebooks.net

The concept of this piece, as described, is excellent; the execution is terrible and misleading (per the description, anyway–it would have been a fine article properly described). A tip would be, for example: "order X at Pearl Oyster Bar, it's not on the menu, it's excellent, and you have to request it." Or a reservation password or somesuch.

How is this an "ultra-valuable tip?" It's not even a "tip," it's a piece of trivia.
