Works & Process at the Guggenheim Museum
WHY ESSENTIAL:
This dance series, which focuses on the artistic process, puts directors and choreographers on the hot seat (upcoming shows feature the hilariously dry Paul Taylor—how many lies will he tell?—as well as Israeli choreographer Ohad Naharin in a program focusing on his dance technique, “gaga”). Founded and produced by Mary Sharp Cronson, the series, while not focused solely on dance, illuminates much about the medium’s inner workings, both good and bad.
The secret:
The Peter B. Lewis Theater, home to Works & Process, is tucked underneath the building’s spiraling rotunda. This is one of the few theaters that Frank Lloyd Wright designed. When staff walked into the space during renovations in 1992, they discovered it filled with three feet of water that had leaked in from the Central Park’s nearby Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir. The theater was restored to its original state in 1994. These days, pumps work 24/7—and whenever they get turned off, water starts seeping into the orchestra pit (as was the case last year during a performance of Romulus). 1071 Fifth Ave at 89th St (212-423-3500)

Josh, it is true. X is not on the menu.
I am really upset that Time Out printed my secret website for everybody to see. gugunnameable is so secret, you can't even view it on a regular computer -- the secret password is
www.unnameablebooks.net

The concept of this piece, as described, is excellent; the execution is terrible and misleading (per the description, anyway–it would have been a fine article properly described). A tip would be, for example: "order X at Pearl Oyster Bar, it's not on the menu, it's excellent, and you have to request it." Or a reservation password or somesuch.

How is this an "ultra-valuable tip?" It's not even a "tip," it's a piece of trivia.
