    100 best food and drink

NYC's top 100 foods: Best of the rest

    BURGERS

Grass-fed burger with heritage bacon at Back Forty Putting politics aside (the grass-fed pastured cows are happier!), let’s focus on the taste. The charred patty in Back Forty’s version oozes with juice, and the thick-cut bacon is its perfect, salty counterpoint. PC or not, it’s the best burger we’ve had all year. 190 Ave B between 11th and 12th Sts (212-388-1990). $12.

The triple at Schnäck Schnäck wags a bloated finger in the face of the city’s high-end burger joints (sorry, Back Forty). Load your bun with up to five godlessly greasy mini patties, and cement them with melted cheddar and aho, a bright-green garlic and jalapeño sauce. Then watch your pulse. 122 Union St at Columbia St, Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn (718-855-2879). $7.32.

Pljeskavica at Bosna Express You’ll need both hands to hold this massive pljeskavica—a “Balkan burger,” or lamb-and-beef patty wrapped in pitalike flatbread—particularly if you’ve piled on the chopped cucumbers, homemade yogurt, and ajvar, a zesty spread made with garlic, pepper and eggplant. 791 Fairview Ave at Putnam Ave, Ridgewood, Queens (718-497-7577). $8.
