    2. “Decide to decide,” says professional organizer and speaker Stephanie Calahan. Determine whether to keep or toss every item you pick up.

    3. Go see the Frank Lloyd Wright room at the Met. Its clean lines just might inspire you to tidy up your own room. (Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1000 Fifth Ave at 82nd St; 212-535-7710)

    4. Bring someone home. The prospect of leading a date through the maze of books and pizza boxes could motivate you to clean up your act.

    5. One step at a time: Try tidying up for just 15 minutes each day; by the end of the week, you might be able to see the floor.
