Norman Rabinovich and Meredith Kahn, with Grayson
Williamsburg, Brooklyn
Norman says: “I like to wear lavenders and oranges as accent colors with browns, blues and grays. As a graphic designer, I’ve always been attracted to a well-balanced composition and well-presented details. This isn’t a typical daily outfit, but it’s definitely something I would wear for business meetings or outings, specifically in the spring or summer. It’s my favorite spring outfit because it’s so versatile.”
Norman says: “The first year of your child’s life is all about gifts from other people. We’re just starting to integrate our own sensibilities into her clothes. She’s wearing a Makié top, pants from Feather Baby and shoes from Lucky Wang. We buy most of her clothes from a baby store called Sweet William. The woman who runs it has amazing taste in clothes. We’re in there once a week talking to her.”

Meredith says: “The top is by Eventide; they’re a design team who are friends of mine. It’s wispy, and a great layering piece. It’s really light and I fell in love with the color. When they were developing it, I was so in love with it that they named it after me—it’s actually called the Meredith Top.”
Meredith says: “I like pairing an easy black dress with something over it that has a bit of color. I usually wear basic, interesting silhouettes and then layer on the accessories. It’s not that warm in spring, so the Christian Louboutin boots are kind of like pants. It’s the perfect situation: tight leather pants with a swing dress over it. If I could walk in the boots a little bit better, they would be a staple.”
Meredith says: “The Domino ring is from my spring collection—I design and produce jewelry under my maiden name, Meredith Kahn (meredithkahn.com), and also have a fashion jewelry line called Made Her Think (madeherthink.com). I love big, chunky jewelry. If I’m at a restaurant, people sitting next to me will ask about it because it’s so big. I also do a lot of online sales, and people will send some of the bigger rings back because they say, ‘Oh! This is way too big for me!’ The necklace is also from my spring collection. The design is of roses and talons.”

It's nice to see people having their own direction when it comes to style, but I cringe to hear people fawning over designer brand names like it's the only thing that matters. I wonder if that baby knows it's shoes cost more than my whole outfit?
