    TONY fashion

Hey, we have some pretty cool togs ourselves. Some of the office's snazziest dressers reveal their style secrets.

    Describe your personal style.
Well, it used to be very, very goth, for high school and some of college. Lately, while I’ve kept some gothic elements, I’ve integrated more vintage and handmade items, like these vintage boots.

    Tell me more about those.
They’re vintage ’80s boots from Etsy. [Ed’s note: This site allows small-time designers to open their own online stores.]

Do you have any Etsy favorites? Like, designers you’ve bought from multiple times?
I’ve had one or two repeat buys, but there are so many designers on there, I usually just browse.

You told me you had a different outfit picked out for this if the day had been warmer. What was it?
I probably would have worn the same jeans, but I wanted to wear this weird multicolored shirt and a really cool handmade necklace I have. It’s my favorite necklace.

    What’s it like?
It’s this iridescent octopus made out of brass and antique metal with chains hanging from the tentacles. It’s really cool, but it was freezing when I woke up so I just reached for this top I got at Brooklyn Industries this weekend.

I do that too. When it’s cold, I just reach for the warmest thing near my bed. I want to ask about that cool splotch of color in your hair. Is that a signature Angela thing?
It’s relatively new. I had blue, then I switched to pink, then purple. My roommate dyes her hair, like, eight different colors; she’s a super-duper little goth girl. I figured I’d add some more flair to my look.

Does your roommate do your coloring?
I do it with several friends. Every couple of weeks we redo our roots.

Do people treat you different since you’ve added the color? Are they scared you might sass-talk them?
That’s a good question. I can’t tell because I also just bleached my hair—I had black hair for ten years. I think the black-to-platinum provoked a stronger reaction. But mostly people comment on the color in a positive way.

    What made you go platinum?
[Laughs] Um, I started dating a hairstylist and…

Understood. Did you feel like a little bit of your goth self died when you did that?
Maybe. I don’t like to identify myself as goth. I will say, when you go to goth night at a club, blond hair definitely sticks out.
