    Tribeca Film Festival '08

    Meet our reader correspondents

We invited all readers (you!) to apply to cover the Tribeca scene using nearly unlimited festival passes. Meet the lucky two who earned that right (and look for them on the TONY blog).

    Tribeca Film Festival movie reviews

    Name: Heather Jensen
    Lives: Upper West Side
    Short bio:
Heather is an unapologetic film fanatic. She's the person friends call when they can't recall the name of an actor in some long-ago title. Although she admits to not having written a film review since high school, she says, "I truly love seeing all sorts of movies and discussing what makes some great and others flat."

    Her winning responses:
In 100 words or less, tell us your favorite movie and why.
Although there are many dramatic masterpieces that I admire and appreciate, the Marx Brothers' Night at the Opera is my all-time favorite film. When I first saw it at the age of 5, the sight gags and one-liners had me howling in laughter. Every subsequent viewing has brought a greater appreciation of the rapid-fire dialogue and carefully crafted jokes

Fill in the blank. _________ should have won best picture in 2007. Justify your answer.
Of the five films that were nominated, I liked No Country for Old Men best. However, the movie that wasn't nominated yet should have won was Once. Lacking grandeur, violence, heavy drama or big name stars, it proved that wonderful films can be made with just a simple, beautiful story, earnest actors and a bargain budget. Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova radiated such genuine emotion in both song and dialogue that it was impossible not to be caught up in their swirl of the passion on screen. Since the music was such an integral part of the film, it was rightly rewarded with the best song Oscar; however, that award ignores the mastery of the entire film. The five nominated films may have had more blood, but Once had the most heart.
