Q: I want to go to a laid-back bar, lounge or club that plays R&B, hip-hop, dub or soul—and no Madonna. Can you help?—Miguel, Harlem
A: Hip-hoppers head to Williamsburg’s Triple Crown (108 Bedford Ave at North 11th St, Williamsburg, Brooklyn; 718-388-8883) for danceable tunes spun Wednesday through Saturday nights by a roster of renowned DJs like Rich Medina, X-Ecutioners’ Rob Swift and resident Thursday night spinner (and former Tribe Called Quest and Lucy Pearl member) Ali Shaheed Muhammad. Also on Thursday nights is the “Digging Deeper” party at Sin Sin’s Leopard Lounge (85 Second Ave between 4th and 5th Sts, 212-253-2222), which features new and old funk, hip-hop and dub by DJs from the Brooklyn-based Bastard Jazz Recordings, plus special guest DJs monthly. Get into the groove.
