1 Dominick Jimmy Carbone (Jimmy’s No. 43) is in the kitchen at this west Soho Puglian café. Breakfast items like Gorilla coffee and garlic-rubbed country bread with a hard-cooked egg, ricotta salata, tomato and olives give way to affordable small plates and panini—like Carbone’s take on the fried baloney sandwich, mortadella on pain de mie—for lunch and dinner. Take advantage of the BYOB policy while it lasts: Wine and beer are in the works. 1 Dominick St between Sixth Ave and Varick St (212-647-0202, ext 308)
La Vineria Restaurateurs Giovanna Miranda and Angela Castaldo (Il Corso) will move their midtown eatery a few blocks west—into the space that once held their restaurant La Locanda dei Vini—later this week. Chef Massimiliano Bartoli, last seen conjuring his popular béchamel lasagna at Miss Williamsburg Restaurant, reprises that dish, along with a range of trattoria staples, at this modern 70-seat Italian spot. 727 Ninth Ave between 49th and 50th Sts (212-258-2900)
