FRI 16–SUN 18 THE PLATE DIVIDE
Forget what you’ve been told: It’s okay to play with your food. An eight-course tasting menu will feature artist-designed interactive plateware at restaurant and performance venue Monkey Town. Dishes will include an edible lamp (the shade made from bread, the candle a mixture of butter and salt) and a bowl with a hidden compartment that will release orange vapor, enveloping the snapper dish within. TUE 20 SWAP MEAT
Queens throws down a playful gauntlet at the borough’s annual tasting event, inviting citywide pros to engage in a friendly burger competition. Judges will include chef Terrance Brennan of Picholine, and The Hamburger: A History scribe Josh Ozersky. Tastes of all the burgers, plus goodies from more than 50 local restaurants, will be served.
