Q My parents are visiting. Can you suggest some nearby bars that won’t mortify them?—Kyle Sowash, Fort Greene, Brooklyn
A While your folks might not approve of Pabst-drenched rocker dives, they’ll be pleased as punch when you ferry them to sophisticated Stonehome Wine Bar. Cozy up to the curvaceous cherrywood bar and choose from three dozen vintages by the glass, including a lush, fruity Ben Marco Malbec ($10). Is beer their preferred libation? Wow ’em at reBar, a second-floor hideaway festooned with stained glass and ornamental ironwork. The restrained music and murmured conversations will relax Mom and Dad, as will the chocolaty Captain Lawrence Smoked Porter ($6) or full-bodied Delirium Tremens ($8). But for the ultimate in Brooklyn luxe, bring your folks to sign-free The Hideout. Ring the former parking garage’s buzzer, and enter a snug, ersatz speakeasy featuring tin ceilings, sumptuous wallpaper and unimpeachable cocktails, like the gold-flecked Poisoned Rose, a lip-smacking mix of gin, apple juice and aromatics ($14), and the Snow Mosquito ($14), a fruity, vodka-fueled sipper that just might get your ’rents to loosen up.

Zum Schneider, on Ave C and East 7th Street is a cozy but not cheesy Bavarian place. Good for families on weeknights and weekend afternoons. www.zumschneider.com

Common Ground on A between 12th and 13th is a very adult pub with a sophisticated menu and clean, comfortable environment if you want to take your folks out in the East Village.
