Q I’m sick of huddling in doorways to smoke. Now that it’s warmer, are there any outdoor smoking areas?—Justin O’Sullivan, West Village
A Snag your lighter and cigs, nicotine fiend, and follow the smoke clouds to Larry Lawrence (295 Grand St between Havemeyer and Roebling Sts, Williamsburg, Brooklyn; 718-218-7866), a cavernous, wood-paneled room offering a glassed-in upstairs alcove where you can spark up while sucking Smuttynose IPA pints ($5). You can also get your cigarette buzz on at multifloor Supreme Trading (213 North 8th St between Driggs Ave and Roebling St, Williamsburg, Brooklyn; 718-599-4224). Slurp a house whiskey-and-Pabst combo ($5) in secluded booths, shoot pool, then puff on the sprawling smoking patio. Jonesin’ for a Manhattan alfresco fix? Check out model-skinny Boxcar Lounge (168 Ave B between 10th and 11th Sts, 212-473-2830), where you’ll dig two-for-one, 20-ounce drafts like Sixpoint Brownstone ($6 until 10pm) and blow rings in the verdant backyard (by law, only 25 percent of the space is smoking-permitted). Wait, what’s that? Raindrops! No downpour can dampen your addiction. Scurry inside smoking-allowed, sofa-strewn hookah lounge Karma (51 First Ave between 3rd and 4th Sts, 212-677-3160), order a creamy, vodka-fueled Good Karma cocktail ($10), ask for an ashtray, then puff up with impunity—from the law, at least.—Joshua M. Why does TONY always list obscure bars in BK, QNS or where ever? The best bar in the whole damn city is CLEARLY Rudys!!! $7 pitchers, free hotdogs and a backyard with a patio to smoke. Located right off Times Square. Hell, what more could you ask for?

Justin-- check out Vol de Nuit, in your neighborhood the West Village, on w.4th just east of 6th avenue. It's a belgian beer bar, so no hard liquor, but a great courtyard with tables & chairs where you can really stretch out and relax with your brew and a smoke.

Hey you forgot one of my faves-the Underground Lounge (107th & WEA) has a very cute below street level smoking patio area. They also have great live music tues nights and comedy shows and an awesome live blues band on weekends. It is my current favorite place to smoke and drink in Manhattan.
