Q The weather’s too nice to drink inside. What are some good outdoor spots?—Emily Morrison, Long Island City, Queens
A Find the cure for cabin fever in Red Hook at Irish hang Rocky Sullivan’s (34 Van Dyke St at Dwight St, Red Hook, Brooklyn; 718-246-8050). A multitiered roof deck provides a sunny perch on which to sip $6 Sixpoint ales, brewed right next door. Those who prefer a higher roost should proceed to the 15th-floor penthouse at the Dream Hotel’s Ava Lounge (210 W 55th St between Seventh Ave and Broadway, 212-956-7020), where revelers can temper the neon-drenched Times Square vista with a tart, grapefruit-infused Crimson Sunset cocktail. If you find the heights too dizzying, try the century-old LIC Bar (45-58 Vernon Blvd between 45th Rd and 46th Ave, Long Island City, Queens; 718-786-5400). The ground-floor garden, dotted with willow trees, makes a bucolic backdrop for lingering over a bitter Stone IPA pint ($5). But that outdoor patch is puny compared with the expanse at Cávo (42-18 31st Ave between 42nd and 43rd Sts, Astoria, Queens; 718-721-1001), featuring waterfalls and enough flora to fill a nursery. Plant yourself at a table beside Greek clubhoppers, grab a sprightly, strawberry-packed glass of sangria ($10) and toast T-shirt season’s long-awaited arrival.

The best bar to drink beer al fresco is CLEARLY Zum Schneider on Ave C in the East Village. On a hot, sweltering summer night, there is no better place to be. Sure, the crowd is cacophanously loud and the establishment pushes the patrons inside at 11pm in deference to the neighborhood but, you can't have everything.
