    Time Out New York / Issue 635 : Nov 29–Dec 5, 2007

    3 questions for… Brian Boitano

    Gold medalist, cartoon

1 Can you still nail the quadruple jump?
I can’t do that one anymore. I still do all the other jumps, though—all except the highest triple axel that I did in the Olympics. It’s too hard on your body just to maintain everything. I told my friends that when I look like an old man on the ice, get the cane and yank me off.

2 What is Oksana Baiul up to these days?Oh, going crazy somewhere. She’s nuts, but she’s the first one to admit that. She may be crazy, but she has a heart of gold. I knew Oksana when she was 15, though. It was kind of freaky to know that I’ve known her for half of her lifetime.

3 Do you ever find yourself contemplating the murder of Matt Stone and Trey Parker?
No! Oh my God, they were so nice to me. When I first heard about the song, I thought, Oh crap, what the hell are they going to say? I’ve never done anything to them, what the hell are they picking on me for? But now I love them. VH1 had a special, Inside South Park, and I think I was the only well-known person who did it. They wrote me a thank-you note. I thought to myself, I’ll do it, I don’t give a shit.

    —Drew Toal

The Brian Boitano Skating Spectacular, featuring musical guest Barry Manilow, will air Dec 22 on NBC.
