Maria Sharapova, Amanda Beard, Jennie Finch: The straight dudes who make up most of the American sports audience have all, at some point, stopped what they were doing to drool over these lovely athletes. Personally, I was always partial to Manon Rhéaume, the first female player in the NHL. Don’t ask about the dynamic of my fantasies, which often involved full goaltender gear (and yes, I realize that getting all those pads off might prove more challenging than the simple unlatching of a bra). But the way Rhéaume’s lithe, presumably very flexible frame occupied the space between the pipes in her 1993 hockey cards caused me to frequently lament the fact that more smoking-hot French-Canadian lady goalies weren’t into pucking around.
