    Time Out New York / Issue 654 : Apr 9–15, 2008

    Spring theater for 2008

This season’s got some promising shows in store.

    BROADWAY  |  OFF BROADWAY  |  OFF-OFF BROADWAY

    Off Broadway

    God’s Ear
Grief runs its heartbreaking but quirky course in Jenny Schwartz’s deconstruction of the language of sorrow, which premiered Off-Off last year. Through May 18, 2008 at the Vineyard Theatre

    The Sound and the Fury
Elevator Repair Service applies its avant-garde magic to part one of William Faulkner’s classic novel: They speak every word, verbatim. Tue 15–May 18, 2008 at New York Theatre Workshop

    The Walworth Farce
Fierce Irish dramatist Enda Walsh examines gritty family dynamics through the distorting lens of wacky humor. In this metatheatrical comedy, the slapstick stings. Tue 15–May 4, 2008 at St. Ann’s Warehouse

    Endgame
John Turturro and Max Casella bicker until the end of the world in Samuel Beckett’s bleak masterpiece. Bonus: Elaine Stritch pops up in a garbage can. Apr 25–May 18, 2008 at BAM

    Port Authority
If you missed Conor McPherson’s moody The Seafarer, try this more intimate production. Three generations of Irishmen talk about lost love and loneliness in monologues. Apr 30–Jun 15, 2008 at Atlantic Theater Company
