"Notorious & Notable: 20th-Century Women of Style"
Tue Sep 7 2010
"Notorious & Notable: 20th-Century Women of Style" at the Museum of the City of New York (Sept 14--Jan 3)
From socialites to strippers, the women of New York have undeniable style. This show creates a mosaic of life in 20th-century New York via its female inhabitants—from famed dancer Isadora Duncan to political firebrand Bella Abzug. Ensembles and jewelry will be displayed on mannequins along a mock runway so visitors can see garments up close—we like burlesque dancer Gypsy Rose Lee's striptease costume, which has snaps up the back for speedy removal. It's stylish and pragmatic!
