Time Out says

The Whitney turns from Pop Art's ebullient celebration of consumer culture to focus on the genre's darker side in this collection of works from the 1960s and ’70s. Astringent views of the American Dream are on the menu, which features contributions by such names as Jasper Johns, Ed Ruscha, William Eggleston, Peter Saul, Christina Ramberg and Vija Celmins, among others.
