Time Out says

You’d be hard-pressed to find anything more frightening than the steel-boned corset or skeleton-like crinoline worn by the Tredwell family gals, who inhabited the Merchant’s House Museum more than a century ago. See those and less oppressive undergarments at “Take a Peek: 19th Century Undergarments from the Collection." More-comfy items include a petticoat, a chemise, stockings and split leggings (basically lady boxers cut lengthwise for easy access).
