Time Out says

There’s a lot to feel patriotic about at this month’s Target First Saturday, which focuses on American art and innovation in honor of July 4th. Local musicians—such as Brooklyn street brass ensemble the Hungry March Band and ’90s-inspired beat makers the Brown Bag AllStars—entertain, while the Redhawk Arts Council presents a traditional Native American dance. Performance artist Valerie Hegarty will chat about her installation Alternative Histories, which offers a different take on Independence Day by rethinking our nation’s narrative. And StoryCorps, a nonprofit that has recorded more than 45,000 personal plotlines from people across the country, hosts a screening of animated shorts based on selected tales from its archive. Keep an eye out for spiels you’ve heard on NPR’s Morning Edition.
