RECOMMENDED: What's new and what's best in Brooklyn
The splashy new 19,000-seat Barclays Center has arrived, and it's bringing us the Brooklyn Nets, the borough's first major pro sports team since the Dodgers left in 1957. (Jay-Z is a part owner; he christens the stadium with a run of way-sold-out dates.) Besides b-ball, the venue plans to host around 220 events in its first year, most of them appropriately massive, including concerts by Rihanna and Lady Gaga.
