    Description
The perfect bookstore has Shuggie Otis on the dial, a selection of beer and wine at a counter in the corner and the best possible reason to spend money here: Every dollar earned helps house people living with AIDS. The bookshelves ooze academia, but the Works cuts loose monthly with intimate concerts featuring the likes of Fountains of Wayne and Lyle Lovett. It’s a good first-date place, because, as a volunteer clerk says, “if the conversation dulls, you can just grab a book.”
