Restaurateur John McDonald (Lever House, Lure Fishbar) tapped onetime Hollywood set designers Roman and Williams for the dramatic overhaul of Brasserie 44, the restaurant of design hall-of famer the Royalton Hotel, in 2007. The eatery’s buzzed-about lounge, Bar 44, takes late-night reservations if you want a guaranteed spot to sip your cocktail. House specialties include the Runway, which contains Don Julio Silver tequila, agave nectar syrup and blood orange puree, and the Recess Is On (named after our current economic state—get it?), made with Bulleit bourbon, ginger, fresh orange and a Campari rinse. To satisfy your postshow munchies, graze at the raw bar or crunch on fresh popcorn with white-truffle butter.
