M Shanghai Bistro and Den

Local cool kids—and some refreshingly room-temperature types as well—crowd the scruffy basement (the “den” part) of a popular Chinese restaurant (the “bistro” part) all week long. Thursday through Saturday, entertainment might include an acoustic house band, spoken-word or party-jam DJs, and there’s Sunday-night hip-hop karaoke. Exotic specialty drinks are well mixed (cocktails are half price on weekends from 2 to 4am), and Rheingolds are always $3. Don’t miss the hangover-friendly dim sum brunch, served every Sunday in the main space upstairs.
