Time Out says

In an attempt to create the perfect lounge, bar owners Michael Matzo and Craig Skiptunis (Bistro Ten 18) didn’t settle on just one concept. Their Soho lounge, Obivia, wears many hats. It’s gimmicky: Shots come in blocks of ice embedded with exotic flower petals. It’s luxurious: You can rent a liquor locker for $500 annually. It’s trendy: The place is located around the corner from La Esquina, and the small-plates menu includes chicken lollipops and duck meatballs. It also appeals to artsy couch potatoes: Five plasma-screen televisions are rigged with B movies like Planet of the Apes and Abbot-and-Costello flicks. The decor is equally scattered, with a hodgepodge of items that include amber-hued antique light fixtures and Oriental rugs, and music provided by an iPod featuring jazz and funk tunes by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald and George Clinton.
