Fans of smoky, cold-weather hooch need not choose between peaty, highland whisky and floral, South of the Border mescal. At this hour-and-a-half workshop hosted by Long Island City wine shop SquareWine & Spirits, El Buho Mezcal founder John Henry and whiskey consultant Robin Robinson are on hand to pour three samples of each spirit while walking guests through the individual production processes and flavor profiles. Rounding out the tasting is a hands-on DIY cocktail lesson that shakes up winter spices to prepare attendees for the spirited holiday season.
