If there's any meal New Yorkers feel particularly passionate about, it's brunch. It's a weekend unwind, a hangover cure (thank heavens for Bloody Marys) and the one time of day where it's socially acceptable to have your pancakes with a side of French fries. To get you in gear for the weekend ahead, here are a few food-porny options for your Saturday-afternoon brunch.

This Soho charmer serves homey Israeli-tinged fare—think rosewater waffles with Lebanese yogurt, green shakshuka and poached eggs with grilled tomatoes and haloumi.

CHALK POINT KITCHEN

Matt Levine's weathered-wood, country-in-the-city clubhouse serves farm-to-table brunch eats like fresh salads with griddled eggs, fried green tomatoes with buttermilk-dill and five takes on that brunchtime classic, eggs Benedict (peekytoe crab, Romanian steak).

EGG SHOP

You can pretty much get brunch food all day at this egg-focused Lower East Side nook, including breakfast-minded sandwiches like their fancified riff on a bodega bacon-egg-and-cheese and an open-faced number loaded with salmon, pickled egg and caperberry mustard.

Where else to satisfy your smoked-fish and bagel cravings than at the cafe offshoot of the iconic LES appetizing store? Their lox-and-schmear platters are big enough to share, but you won't want to.

The pancakes at Neil Kleinberg and DeDe Lahman's bakery-cafe are the stuff of brunch legend. Yes, there will definitely be a line and yes, those fluffy, buttery stacks will definitely be worth the wait.

DIMES

Had a rough, boozy night? Refuel the next day with fruit-filled breakfast bowls and egg-crammed tacos at this cheery SoCal-inspired spot.

The Carroll Gardens crowd-pleaser attracts even megawatters like Beyonce (Blue Ivy in tow) with its brunch eats like short-rib hash, house-made granola and eggs Huntington, piled with country ham and hollandaise.

MISSION CANTINA

Need a break from eggs Bene? Switch up your brunch game with a Vietnamese a.m. spread at Danny Bowien's Mexican canteen. Two words: breakfast pho.

BUVETTE

At her intimate, Gallic-accented West Village bistro, Jody Williams rolls out French pastries, coffee and gorgeous, egg-topped toasts, some layered with prosciutto or smoked salmon, others dusted in salty pecorino.

Gabrielle Hamilton's cozy Lower East Side staple is reliably packed on the weekends, no doubt due to toothsome dishes like sausages and oysters, Dutch-style pancakes and textbook eggs Benedict with half-moon potatoes rosti.
