If you regularly take the A or C subway lines between Brooklyn and Manhattan, we have some good news and bad news. The good news: It's Friday! The bad news: Your weekend commute is about to get a whole lot tougher.

The MTA announced Tuesday night that spring 2015 will usher in 40 non-consecutive weekends of closures of the Cranberry Street Tunnel, which connects the A and C trains between Brooklyn and Manhattan. 40. Fucking. Weekends. We hope you are really fond of your home borough because that is 72% of the weekends in a year. The A/C lines will be rerouted along the F line between the Jay Street/Metrotech and West 4th Street stops during weekends with altered service.

An MTA representative shared the closure news at a Brooklyn Community Board 2 Transportation and Public Safety Committee meeting Tuesday Night, Gothamist reports. Adam Lisberg, MTA's Director of External Communications, confirmed the news, saying "closures will start next year and continue into early 2016. No particular dates chosen yet." The closures stem from long-needed post-Hurricane Sandy repairs. "We are working with elected officials and community representatives to plan the schedule for these weekend shutdowns so we can perform this vital work while minimizing the unavoidable disruption to customers who use these tubes on the weekends," Lisberg said. Yeah, sure.

There is a possible silver lining for people who hate other people or are in a relationship with their couch: Your subway line being closed is a pretty great excuse to stay home.
