Celebrate adorable dogs at the Mighty Mutts 20th anniversary party

Friday, September 12, Mighty Mutts want you to join them in celebrating 20 years of animal rescues with a dog-lovin', canine-obsessed fundraising party, and all you need is $20 bucks to get in on the action. The dogtastic affair take place at luxury fitness center and spa Mercedes Club, in Hell's Kitchen. Cocktail attire is suggested, because dogs are better than fashion fur paws...Faux pas. Yep, we went there. Mighty Mutts is a no-kill, animal rescue organization, which believe it or not, isn't too common in this city.
"Once we bring a dog into the Mighty Mutts family, we keep them until they are adopted--regardless of how long it takes. We never abandon a dog." Volunteer, Jaime Coffino, told TONY.
And some how, miraculously, they've made it this long with an all-volunteer staff. If you ask us, they're damn near "paw"fect. See what we did there? But seriously, these photos, though...

There will be Italian food from Stecchino (nom nom) and beer courtesy of local, Dominican-inspired uptown brewers Dyckman Beer Co., plus a cash bar with the stronger stuff, in case you've had a ruff day. And since Mercedes is a fitness center, it's only "fitting" that there will also be a pay-what-you-can work-out class with trainer Karen Katz before all the eating and drinking fun begins, so you can feel all good about yourself while stuffing your face.
Mighty Mutts is sharing this celebration with their cat-equivalents and partners Ollie's Place, just so you cat people out there know you're not forgotten. Cat-tastrophie averted.
No dogs at the actual party. We know, *sad face*. But there's nothing sexy about a dog-scented formal gown. Just keeping it real. Here's the good news, though; Mighty Mutts are on Union Square every Saturday, so if you'd like to play with some cute dogs, sign up to volunteer. Or just be a complete dog groupie and show up Saturdays at Union Square between 11:30am-5pm; maybe you'll leave with a new best friend! Or just a friend, in general. We're not judging. Plus, it's nearly im"paws"ible to say no to cute pets.
