For four nights from June 10 to June 13, one of contemporary art’s superstars will intersect with one of art history’s icons when Jenny Holzer mounts an outdoor light projection piece to coincide with the New York Botanical Garden’s blockbuster show, “Frida Kahlo: Art Garden, Life.”

Presented in concert with the Poetry Society of America, Holzer’s piece will project scrolling texts on the exterior and surroundings of the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory. A selection of Frida Kahlo's diary entries along with the writings of Mexico's Nobel Prize winner Octavio Paz plus verses from some of Mexico’s leading contemporary female poets, will illuminate the night in a tribute to Kahlo’s indelible art and extraordinary career. Holzer’s projection is one of a series she’s presented around the world, from Paris to Rio De Janeiro.

It’s all part of the NYBG’s Frida al Fresco evenings, which presents outdoor events related to the Kahlo show. Each attendee at the event is given one complimentary cocktail with additional food and drinks available for purchase.
