Yes, flowers and cards are cute, but what about maternal-themed horror movies? Mother's Day is Sunday and some of us aren't satisfied with the typical mother-child stroll through the park. C'mon, you may be weird but who do you think you got it from? Embrace the strange and show your unique mom you care with these four off-beat events.

RECOMMENDED: Find the best things to do on Mother's Day

Horror Mother's Day (Museum of the Moving Image, 36-01 35th Ave, 1:30pm, 4:30pm, 7pm, each screening $12); Think your childhood was rough? Try comparing any one of Alfred Hitchcock's films. Remind your mom how great she is with a day full of Mom-themed horror flicks including Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, Roman Polanski’s Rosemary’s Baby and David Cronenberg’s The Brood.

Mommie Dearest (W Hotel–Downtown, 123 Washington St., must reserve room for service details); Reserve a room at W Hotel for a chance to request help from one of five Mommie Dearest Drag Mamas, who will be your Mom's special assistant for the day, per your request. Weird and wonderful, indeed.

Mother's Day Strip Show (Pacific Party Hotel, 3038 Atlantic Ave, 8–4pm, $20); Nothing like celebrating the day for mothers with a bunch of ripped, half-naked "firefighters" and "police officers" (AKA strippers). This show will be full of them. Enjoy!

American Me: A Mother's Day Comedy Special (Gotham Comedy Club, 208 West 23rd St., 7:30pm, $15); Crack up with your mom as funny people express their unique experiences as Americans, whatever that means to them—all the while you can both silently reflect on your childhood. Good times.
