Nothing says summertime like “Summertime” by DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince, but a close second is being able to fire up your grill or smoker and cook meat. Unfortunately, in New York City there is not a lot of outside space that affords you the ability to perform this right of man. Thankfully this weekend there are numerous events happening where you will be able to kickoff summer with a healthy dose of meat sweats.

House of YES Memorial Day Pig Roast and Dance Party

The title pretty much says everything you need to know, but their tagline reinforces it, “Because nothing says America like meat in your mouth.”

When: Monday, May 30 2:00 PM

Where: House of YES

Brooklyn Pig Roast

Celebrity chef Michael Psilakis will be cooking up some Korean style pork as well as a southern style for you to pig out on.

When: Friday, May 27 at 6:00 PM

Where: The Hall at MP

Food Party on the Pier

Saturday’s event will be a battle of burgers as various restaurants will be on hand grilling up this American staple, but save room for Sunday when hotdogs take center stage.

When: Saturday and Sunday, May 28/29 at 12:00 PM

Where: Solar One

Nathan’s Hot Dogs Turns 100

Nathan’s is throwing it back to simpler times when you could get a hot dog for a nickel by, well, selling their famous frankfurters for five cents.

When: Saturday, May 28 at 11:00 AM

Where: Nathan’s Famous (Coney Island)
