Happy “Ladies celebrating ladies” Day, New York! Leslie Knope—or Amy Pohler—from the TV sitcom Parks and Recreation declared this day (Feb 13) as a national holiday for women and their best pals. And you know what? We should revel in how awesome it is to be friends with amazing women, dammit!

“It’s Lilith Fair minus the angst, plus frittatas,” says Knope. Whether you’re planning on basking in the joys of friendship over brunch or shopping a few sample sales with your BFF, here’s how to celebrate Galentine’s day in NYC.

Girl Crush by Nice Package

Spend the afternoon brunching, sipping bottomless cocktails, getting a manicure and finding your Zen inside The Love Shack—a cute, homey event space—in Bushwick this Saturday. From 1pm–4pm, Chef Zoe Maya will be providing delicious bites followed by a mini-yoga session by Angelica Olstad from Pop-Up Yoga NYC. Plus, manicurists from Vanity Projects will be there to give your nails a spruce and polish. Tickets for the event cost $75, but since a manicure from Vanity Projects generally costs about the same, you’ll get your money’s worth. Grab your ticket and R.S.V.P. here

Artists & Fleas Galentine’s Day Workshop

Forget cupid and focus on enhancing your skills while sipping bubbly and creating your own baubles. This popular flea is hosting a series of classes taught by local makers at its Williamsburg location on Saturday from 11am-4:30pm. Learn how to make the most unique card imaginable for your loved one ($30), assemble and engrave jewelry ($30), make wire wrap rings ($30) and learn how to solder and create your own earrings ($45). You get to take home your creations, plus snacks and treats will be provided (i.e. Valentine’s Day cookies shaped like dirty body parts).
