It's been thirteen years since the world was introduced to Julian Casablancas and Karen O—leads of The Strokes and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, respectively. Numerous albums, tours and awards later, they've both released solo projects (his, Tyranny, and her's, Crush Songs) under Casablancas's Cult Records. The two let us listen in as they interviewed each other at LES's Sons of Essex, discussing the first time they met, their shared love of Dirty Dancing, Lou Reed and more. Rarely is being a fly on the wall as interesting as it was with these two.

Artistic heavy-hitters star elsewhere in the issue, too. We talk to director David Fincher about his latest film, Gone Girl—set to screen Friday 26 during the New York Film Festival—and chat with Rachel Dratch, who fills us in on her Off Broadway debut in Tail! Spin!. You'll also get a peek inside abstract artist Apryl Miller's apartment and learn about new LES eatery Tuome. And, as always, you can find out about the week's most offbeat events: Interested in a lecture on "fashionable" diseases? It's happening Tuesday 30 at the Morbid Anatomy Museum. If that's a bit much for you, check out our piece on jewelry trends (Stacking rings! Statement necklaces!) or our notes on Lobby Bar. Baubles and booze always have a tendency to win us over.
