Roll up late and get $20 tickets to Off Broadway shows

This winter, it pays not to be punctual Off Broadway. Starting today, the Off Broadway Alliance brings back its popular 20at20, where you can snag $20 tickets to 41 Off Broadway shows; just show up 20 minutes before curtain. If Broadway Week is still too pricey or you’re not into anything on the Great White Way, this is the prime alternative, now through Feb 8.

What a neat and thrifty way to catch up with long-running shows you’ve missed for one reason or another, such as Avenue Q, Fuerza Bruta: Wayra, The Bullpen or even Stomp. Or you can see limited-run plays that are Time Out New York critics’ picks: the quirky, long-titled A Beautiful Day in November on the Banks of the Greatest of the Great Lakes (pictured); or, also whimsically, The Woodsman.

Some offerings are still in previews but probably worth a gander: the Poe-inspired spectacle Nevermore and a new collection of short comic plays by the excellent David Ives, called Lives of the Saints, presented by Primary Stages.

So take your time, spend a few sawbucks and get caught up with the wonderful world of Off Broadway. Here's the full list of participating shows.
