Here's a rare occasion to actually get excited about a Monday... Get ready Midtown office workers, sunbathers inexplicably laying out on a weekday and people who enjoy participating in giant yoga classes, your summer is about to officially start.

At exactly noon on May 9, the Bryant Park staff will officially be removing the rope barriers surrounding the park right off 42nd Street. (It's actually the largest grassy area in Manhattan south of Central Park.) So start planning where you're going to try to grab that afternoon lunch spot now.

If this news doesn't naturally excite you, check out our list of all the cool things to do in Bryant Park this summer. You'll definitely be able to find some activities worth doing, no matter what you're interested in.

Then go and buy a new picnic blanket.
