The Evolution of Bruno Littlemore by Benjamin Hale (Twelve)
This novel from a recent Iowa Writers' Workshop grad is told from the point of view of a talking chimpanzee, imprisoned for murdering a human being. It had us at talking chimpanzee.
Charles Jessold, Considered as a Murderer by Wesley Stace (Picador)
The ambitious third novel from Wesley Stace (a.k.a. John Wesley Harding) revolves around classical opera and a murder-suicide. Highbrow with a body count—sounds like our kind of party.
