Stakes are high

Breaking Dawn, the final installment in Stephenie Meyer’s wildly popular Twilight saga, a story about humans whose bodies and minds have been taken over by mysterious invaders, goes on sale Saturday 2; on Friday 1, she and musician Justin Furstenfeld will be making an appearance at the Nokia Theatre to help fans get their geek on. That event is sold out, but if you’re hoping to get your hands on a copy ASAP—or if you just want to connect with some Wiccans, vampire fanatics or body-snatcher aficionados—most Barnes & Noble and Borders bookstores are, ahem, hosting events on Friday night. Parties start around 9:30pm; stores stay open until past midnight, when books go on sale. Our bet is that Barnes & Noble Union Square is the place to be, but who knows. Just don’t show up dressed like Dumbledore.
