Though I Am Charlotte Simmons didn’t succeed in sparking a lot of conversation about campus life, there’s much hope for the eternally besuited journalist and novelist’s new foray into race, family and personal politics, Back to Blood. Taking place in the melting pot of Miami, Wolfe’s large, multicultural cast of characters—from the mayor to the crack dealer—swirl around each other with a tension that will be familiar to fans of The Bonfire of the Vanities.
