Dell'Arte Opera Ensemble

An independent opera ensemble devoted to nurturing up-and-coming singers, Dell'Arte celebrates its 11th anniversary with a season titled A Summer of Shakespeare. On Aug 7, festivities get under way with a night of "Songs and Sonnets." Purcell's The Fairy Queen (adapted from A Midsummer Night's Dream) bows on Aug 8 and plays into subsequent weeks (Aug 9, 16, 18, 23). Jeff Grossman conducts the orchestra, which will be joined by period-instrument ensemble the Sebastians. Salieri's Falstaff (pivoting off The Merry Wives of Windsor) begins a run on Aug 14, conducted by Christopher Fecteau. (It repeats on Aug 17, 19, 21 and 23.)
