The Met revives a substantial rarity: Riccardo Zandonai's 1914 setting of a saga from Dante's Inferno concerns a virtuous woman locked into a loveless political marriage, who has the misfortune to fall in love with her husband's brother. Appearing in a production last seen in 1986, Eva-Maria Westbroek and Marcello Giordani are the star-crossed Francesca and Paolo; Marco Armiliato conducts.
