The intrepid JACK Quartet stops by Columbia University's Italian Academy for a promising-looking (and free!) bill of new pieces, including one by Jonathan Dawe. (The composer's recent album of baroque-cum-modernist pieces, Piercing Are the Darts, is a highlight of mine from 2014.) Works by William Anderson, Matthew Greenbaum and Charles Wuorinen fill out the bill. Pianist Steve Beck, violinist Miranda Cuckson and cellist Jay Campbell are among the guest artists set to join the Jackers.
