Opening the Philharmonic's new series "The Bach Variations," noted conductor and Bach specialist Masaaki Suzuki mounts the podium to direct two of the composer's sacred works, Singet dem Herrn and his Magnificat, alongside Christus and another Magnificat by Mendelssohn, the Romantic composer credited with igniting Bach's posthumous renown.
