Local composers' collective Random Access Music has compiled an enticing lineup for the return of a fest that brings exciting new sounds to the city's most diverse borough. The eight concerts include groups like Face the Music and Eight Strings & a Whistle. The sets on May 17 seem to be the heart of the action: Saxophone quartet h2 will play music by driving minimalist Marc Mellits and rising-star composer Daniel Wohl (among others) at 4pm, while at 6pm, flute-and-piano outfit Duo RoMi will present pieces by Jonathan Harvey and David Lang. Completing the evening will be the Ghost Ensemble's playlist of works by Pauline Oliveros, Kyle Gann and others (8pm). See queensnewmusicfestival.org for complete details.
