An ambitious festival spanning a vast range of vocal styles, Resonant Bodies brings together a choice group of up-and-coming artists in the classical and improv modes. The Sept 2 opening program features Christie Finn singing Helmut Lachenmann's Got Lost (with Neus Estarellas Calderón on piano) at 7:30pm. Mellissa Hughes sings the first part of Gyorgy Kurtág's haunting (and highly entertaining) Kafka Fragments at 8:15pm (with Caroline Chin on violin). Next-gen Robert Ashley interpreter Gelsey Bell joins up with rising-star composer-singer Kate Soper at 9:20pm for the night's final program. Jane Sheldon sings works by Olga Neuwirth and others, during the first set on Sept 3—and is followed by Ben Hjertmann and Ariadne Greif. The final sets, on Sept 4, put the spotlight on vocalists Dennis Sullivan, Sharon Harms and Megan Schubert. See resonantbodies.org for full details.
