DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist's Renegades of Rhythm Tour

  • Price band: 2/4

DJ Shadow became an instant headphone hero in 1996 with his debut album, Endtroducing…, a stone-cold hip-hop classic that set off a decade swamped with imitative efforts by less distinctive sample-slayers. This tour finds him joining forces with another hip-hop notable, esteemed spinner and producer Cut Chemist—an erstwhile member of Jurassic 5 and Ozomatli—to pay homage to one of the greats: Afrika Bambaataa.

  1. Irving Plaza 17 Irving Pl, at 15th St
  2. Thu Sep 4 - Fri Sep 5

Rudimental

  • Price band: 2/4

Back in 2012, London outfit Rudimental grabbed the top spot on the singles chart with "Feel the Love": a euphoric smasher that fused jazzy, old-school soul with dubstep. The group's sure to get the crowd raving to its all-out, full-band, brass-heavy live incarnation at this Terminal 5 gig. This will go off.

  1. Terminal 5 610 W 56th St, at Eleventh Ave
  2. Fri Sep 5

Blackflag Label Night: Stacey Pullen + Sergio Fernandez + Youcef Elaid + Octave One (live) + Kate Simko

  • Price band: 2/4
  • Critics choice

Verboten has been going from strength to strength, and tonight's hoedown does nothing to break that trend: The talented artists of Stacey Pullen's Blackflag Recordings assume control of the decks, with Pullen himself headlining. The man has never gotten as much recognition as his fellow second-wave Detroit techno artists (Carl Craig, Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin et al.), but he's a hell of a producer and a DJ who can pack a dance floor with ease.

  1. Verboten 54 North 11th St, between Kent and Wythe Aves, 11211
  2. Fri Sep 5

Lone (live) + Aurora Halal (DJ set) + Konx-om-Pax (DJ set)

  • Price band: 1/4
  • Critics choice

If you missed Nottingham producer Lone's appearance at MoMA PS1's Warm Up earlier today, take this chance to catch him at the intimate Glasslands in a live set. Expect to hear an artful blend of hip-hop, house, Detroit techno and old-school rave influences. (We also recommend brushing up on his recent album, Reality Testing, because you're sure to hear from it tonight.)

  1. Glasslands 289 Kent Ave, between South 1st and 2nd Sts, 11249
  2. Sat Sep 6

Mister Sunday

  • Critics choice

Mister Saturday Night's Eamon Harkin and Justin Carter present their beloved end-of-the-week series at a new, larger location. The all-ages event takes place in a courtyard and includes food, drink and, of course, plenty of good records.

  1. Industry City 220 36th St, between Second and Third Aves
  2. Sun Sep 7 - Sun Sep 28

  2. Mon Sep 8
