Deadmau5, the electronic-house producer (known to his pals as Joel Zimmerman) with a certain fondness for rodentia-referencing headgear, kicked off his six-night run at Roseland Ballroom on Tuesday, October 4 with a bang, packing the massive venue with rabid fans—not to mention a mind-melting array flashing lights and sonic boom. But first there was a little awards ceremony to take care of, which saw the Canadian superstar given a gold record for his "Ghosts N Stuff" single, another special (i.e., newly invented) citation for selling Roseland out for his entire series of shows, and a cake that managed to be both tasty and a damn-near exact replica of that giant mouse head. That out of the way, it was time for him and his trusty vocalist Sofi to rock the house—which he certainly did, as you can see from these photos.
