The French rabble-rousers drop a live set upon our asses.

In 2005, Nze took third place in German magazine De-Bug’s readers’ poll of greatest live electronic acts ever. We’d like to know who took the first two places—Satan and Magneto? It must have been somebody with evil superpowers, because judging from this live set recorded last year at Germany’s Suxul club, that’s what it would have taken to defeat the duo of Nicolas “DJ Freak” Sfintescu and Ezechiel Pailhs, The performance comes off as a drunken, somewhat more four-to-the-floor French-fried version of Modeselector, Gauloises dangling from duo’s lips and glasses of merlot in their hands. (At about the ten and a half minute mark, a resurrected Jim Morrison apparently stumbles through as well.) It’s pretty raw, complete with the occasional sound of wires shorting out (perhaps from all that spilled wine?), but it’s also one of the most fun live sets we’ve heard in a while. If you dig what you hear, make sure you catch Nze when they play the Immerse party at Hiro Ballroom on Thursday 18.
